On July 7, 2007, the New Seven Wonders of the World will be announced in Lisbon, as part of a grandiose show, transmitted via satellite throughout the world. The event will take place at Portugal's largest venue, the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon, starting at 9:30pm and ending at 11:00pm. Oour Programs start at 3 nights, and include tickets for “The Official Declaration of the New 7 Wonders of the World” show and will feature performances and award presentation appearances from Jose Carreras, Chaka Khan, Alessandro Safina, Joaquín Cortés, Dulce Pontes, Neil Armstrong and Cristiano Ronaldo amongst others.

Since the initiative was first launched in 2001, the public has nominated hundreds of places throughout the world, that they considered could be classified among the new wonders of the world. The list of nominated sites was reduced to the 77 most-voted sites, by a panel of international architecture experts, and a shortlist of 21 sites was then drawn up, which is now open for voting.
